Time to Focus

20140704-144854-53334285.jpgJune 21, 2013! Just a little over one year ago, was the last post to this site. At the time, I had no intention to abandon ship altogether, but that is exactly what happened. I’ve often missed writing, but knew I didn’t want to start something without a better plan as to how I was going to manage it.

Last year at this time, I was knee deep in my quest to restructure my garden space so that I could fully commit to a more sustainable way of living and eating. That work alone was more time consuming than I had originally thought. In the midst of it all, my husband and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary and our 50th birthdays traveling abroad. It was a magnificent time that we got to enjoy with our daughter, who had been working there for the summer.

Our time in Italy gave me much to think about. With limited access to the internet and phone, my time was free to think; a task usually needing its own time slot on my calendar. To make a long story short, my thinking led to the decision to leave my job, focus on things on the home front, and take a year (or longer) to focus on where I want my life to go next.

This past year has been a bit of a glorious whirlwind. My children are growing up and moving on and my husband and I are re-discovering each other in a whole new way. I’m not sure that I’ve come up with any concrete plans for what’s next in my life, but I do know that the time I’ve spent evaluating and re-evaluating has been priceless. We’re working on plans for our future together and I’m doing some important ground setting steps.

I can’t guarantee that there will be daily posts just quite yet, but I’m back and can’t wait to share the good, bad, the not-so-ugly with you.
