This post is a continuation of my Wedding Day Countdown – 10 things I want you to know before your wedding day. (original post – http://wp.me/p2Uy1y-wv )
Nine days and counting! Today, I want to share with you about grace and forgiveness; specifically God’s grace and forgiveness.
It’s a fact – you will hurt each other. Sometimes this will be small and other times – big. These will be your hardest conversations, but don’t let that stop you. Talk. Be honest. Don’t push it aside – it will come back to haunt you and will be bigger than before. Don’t give this hurt a place to rest and fester. It’s okay to disagree, but let each other know that you are upset. No one is perfect and we all deserve the kind of grace and forgiveness that God offers us. A human heart cannot know God’s love if it harbors anger. They just can’t live together – you must choose. Love is a choice you make every day. Choose compassion over perfection.
Dear Lord, teach my daughter and future husband to speak kindly to one another when they are frustrated and to respect each other’s differences. Fill their hearts with compassion so they may see any pain they may have caused the other. Protect them from a selfish mindset and teach them how to live selflessly for one another. Amen.
“There is no greater force against evil in the world than the love of a man and woman in marriage”. ~Cardinal Raymond Burke~
