2020 brought with it a struggle that we never expected to face in the years just prior to retirement – unemployment. I had retired from the business world in January of 2020, seeking to build my own career as a writer and wellness coach. My husband was working in the city and found the pandemic shutting down businesses at a rapid rate. Although this could have been a time of hopelessness and despair, our faith had deepened over the years and we realized that God has brought us through many tough times over a lifetime and we were being called to, once again, surrender it all to Him. God was good and after a challenging six months, my husband found a new job that has fit nicely into our present life. If you are struggling with unemployment, trust that God has something more for you in this season of life. Lay it all at His feet and praise Him for the little blessings that come your way – gifts, people, and circumstances.
