fourth annual Christian coaching day is Friday, May 12th
Coaching is a young field and is often misunderstood. I thought it might be helpful to answer some common questions about coaching throughout the week as we lead up to the fourth annual Christian Coaching Day on Friday, May 12th.
International Coaching Week (ICW) is a weeklong celebration that educates the public about the value of working with a professional coach and acknowledges the results and progress made through the coaching process. This week is sponsored by the International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals.
Coaching, first and foremost, is about growth. That growth can be personal, professional, and yes, even spiritual. It’s been most commonly known among professionals as they seek to advance in their careers and leadership roles, but it is seeing a growing trend around hundreds of different niches where individuals seek more.
Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process where the coach and client partner to maximize the client’s potential. Coaching is highly personal and taps into an exploration process creating transformational shifts as the client is led to act upon their discoveries.
There is a difference between coaching, mentoring, consulting, counseling, and Spiritual Direction and I’ll cover that in another post throughout the week.
If you are seeking a coach, you should first inquire about their training and credentialing as these individuals have invested time and money into their own education and personal development.
