This week’s Media Monday is a reminder that although we need to be mindful that we are in a constant battle between good and evil, God is always present defending us. This journey of faith that I have been on has been a tender walk where God has revealed Himself in some of the most difficult circumstances of my life. I remember kneeling in church almost 8 years ago asking God “When will things ever get better?”. I sat in silence for a short time and distinctly heard Him say – “Brace yourself. Are you ready? This is only the beginning.” I’m not going to lie – it scared me to death. All I can say is that I’m still here and He’s still my God. This place I’ve come to didn’t happen all at once, but without a doubt, these were the simple tools I used to know that He provides:

I’m starting my year with a new word on my heart, as I’ve done the past several years. I’ve made it a habit to really listen when I silence myself in prayer. To see what words repeat themselves over and over again. What phrases tug at my heart? This year it’s JOY, the kind of joy that is grounded in gratitude. I’m excited to see what adventures God is calling me to with a heart full of joyful gratitude.
